WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A nuclear watchdog’s report that sophisticated warhead designs were found on the computers of Swiss smugglers has spurred fears in the Bush administration and elsewhere that atomic secrets may be quickly spreading. The report on Monday raised particular speculation over the significance of a U.S. intelligence finding last year that Iran had suspended a nuclear-weapons design program in 2003 — which slowed a Bush administration drive to confront Iran. A rare form of tuberculosis caused by illegal, unpasteurized dairy products, including the popular queso fresco cheese, is rising among Hispanic immigrants in Southern California and raising fears about a resurgence of a strain all but eradicated in the U.S.
Cases of the Mycobacterium bovis strain of TB have increased in San Diego county, particularly among children who drink or eat dairy foods made from the milk of infected cattle, a study in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases shows.

“…this year the H5N1 in South Korea is at record levels, and the location of the H5N1 positive swans in Japan are in Akita and Hokkaido (see satellite map), which are where there has not been previously reported outbreaks. These northern locations suggest H5N1 will migrate into northeastern Siberia, which may lead to migration into North America.
The record levels of H5N1 in South Korea follows record outbreaks in India and Bangladesh, which may signal a higher endemic level and further geographic spread of H5N1 via migrating birds”. Read more
