Source: (Reuters) - U.S. online auctioneer eBay Inc may cut 1,500 jobs, according to an article in Barron’s weekly, citing a report published last week by investment-research firm Wedge Partners. The Wedge report, according to Barron’s, said eBay’s business was “deteriorating” and the company was readying layoffs that could affect 10 percent of its 15,000 employees.

German parents post baby on eBay for 1 euro

Authorities in southern Germany have taken custody of a 7-month-old boy after his parents posted an ad on eBay offering to sell him for one euro, or about $1.60. Police spokesman Peter Hieber says the baby was placed in the care of youth services in the southwestern Allgaeu region. Hieber said on Saturday that the mother told police the Internet ad was only a joke. Authorities have begun an investigation into possible child trafficking against the parents. Read more

Husband advertises wife for sale on eBay

Paul Osborn, 44, kicked out wife Sharon and advertised her on the internet auction site – with bids hitting £500,100. It offered his “cheating, lying, adulterous slag of a wife” to the highest bidder – and became an internet phenomenon, with users forwarding the link worldwide. But Sharon, 43, denies an affair and cops are now investigating Paul for harassment.

MoT inspector Paul heard rumours in March that Network Rail manager Sharon, his wife of 24 years, was having an affair with a man at work.
